    Hi, I’m Krista.

    Strategic communicator and storyteller.

I am the wife of a very talented musician who takes me around the world in pursuit of excellence. Mama to Jakob, Audrey and Ella, who just happens to have Down Syndrome.
And an aspiring disciple of Jesus, defender of the oppressed, writer, graphic designer and photographer.

I write and speak on navigating through the fog of life…you know, when things don’t go exactly as planned and am fuelled by a passion to amplify the voices of those on the margins…
    oh, and coffee…lots of coffee.

My Unbirthday

February 21, 2013

I know what you are thinking. Why haven’t you heard anything about my birthday given that it is only 2 short days away and around here birthdays are a BIG DEAL. I mean last year I had a whole series sharing the things I love as my gift to you in honour of my birthday.

In short, I don’t know. Maybe once you get past 30 you realize nobody really cares that it’s your birthday and it’s time to grow up and pretend like you hate birthdays just like everyone else over 30. Or maybe it’s because life is one big waiting game right now and you’d rather a job for your hubby than a big birthday bash. Or maybe its because Daddy is treating you to a weekend at Tofino and that in and of itself is enough to cover any and all celebrations….I think so.

Yes, you heard it right folks: tomorrow we head over to paradise and I am stoked!

It’s been far too long since we’ve visited my favourite place on earth and we are long overdue for a little relaxation. I’ll be sure to fill you in when we return but in the meantime I thought I would share a few things we’re taking along.

Specifically books. Do you find it as hard as I do to narrow down which books to take? Children’s books that is – bedtime stories are an integral part of the Ewert family so I have picked a variety and of course, a few of our favourites including:

For the adults, a little game called Quelf…go on, give it a try, it’s guaranteed for a laugh. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. If you want to buy me a present, I have a better idea, head over to Reece’s Rainbow and donate to Markus because it’s his birthday too and wouldn’t it be great if for his birthday his forever family found him?

a little disclaimer: okay Markus can’t receive grants yet because their are waiting on more information but he has stolen my heart, so I urge you to bookmark his page and check back later or do please give to another child. Take a moment, God will show you the one. Thank you.
