    Hi, I’m Krista.

    Strategic communicator and storyteller.

I am the wife of a very talented musician who takes me around the world in pursuit of excellence. Mama to Jakob, Audrey and Ella, who just happens to have Down Syndrome.
And an aspiring disciple of Jesus, defender of the oppressed, writer, graphic designer and photographer.

I write and speak on navigating through the fog of life…you know, when things don’t go exactly as planned and am fuelled by a passion to amplify the voices of those on the margins…
    oh, and coffee…lots of coffee.

30 Loves for 30 Years: 11-15

February 18, 2012
In celebration of my 30th birthday, I am sharing with you 30 Loves. In 30 years I think I have a fairly good understanding of who I am, what inspires me and what I love. And when you love something, you want to share it with the world so that they can love it too…kind of like the love of God. So here you are, 10-15 of 30 things to love. Think of it as your goodie bag!

** Note: I am not paid to say any of this or endorse any of these products. They are simply things I love and want to share with you and are in no particular order…**

11. Michael Kaeshammer: I fell in love with this young prodigy over 10 years ago…before I met Ben (if I hadn’t married him I would have married Michael). He was born in Germany but by 13 made himself known as a boogie-woogie pianist in Canada. His technique is impeccable…not that I know, but what I do know is that his music makes me happy. I don’t know what all the hype is about Bublé but this Michael has talent. Watch his left foot – it’s always going. I have seen him live three times now, and everytime, I have been blown away. Enjoy!

12. Fresh Basil: It’s intoxicating. It is like a magic ingredient that I try to weave in wherever I can and pair it with fresh bread and oil and balsamic vinegar. One day, I will be italian.

13. The River Cafe I am sorry to say that this beautiful gem is only in Calgary. Nestled in Prince’s Island Park, the River cafe beckons you in with a crackling wood burning fireplace, open concept kitchen and innovative yet delectable all-Canadian dishes. They do their best to source everything locally and in season. I went there for my birthday last year with my dear friends and wish I was going again with you this year. If you are ever in the area, give it a try.

14. The Ballerina by Jose Royo: A print of this whimsical painting hangs in the Nilgiris Tea House (another favourite). When I saw it, I knew I needed it. It evokes the dreams that I talk so often of. It wisps you off to a place where there are no worries, no insecurities, no self-scutinization. It’s beautiful, and thanks to a special angel I have a print of my own.

15. Aveda Hair Product Can you tell that I am deeply moved and inspired through the sense of smell?  Aveda is an ethical company that produces a great product through fair trade and corporate responsibility. If you’re new to Aveda try their Shampure. Myself, however, I use their Rosemary Mint Shampoo as I like to wash my hair every day.

What do you think? Leave a comment if you echo my review, or disagree, if there is a product that you look forward to trying, reading or enjoying, I would love to hear from you!
