    Hi, I’m Krista.

    Strategic communicator and storyteller.

I am the wife of a very talented musician who takes me around the world in pursuit of excellence. Mama to Jakob, Audrey and Ella, who just happens to have Down Syndrome.
And an aspiring disciple of Jesus, defender of the oppressed, writer, graphic designer and photographer.

I write and speak on navigating through the fog of life…you know, when things don’t go exactly as planned and am fuelled by a passion to amplify the voices of those on the margins…
    oh, and coffee…lots of coffee.

Audrey Turns Three!

February 10, 2018

Today our baby girl turns three.

I’ve shared with you the drama of the night Audrey was born  but I think a memory I come back to more than that evening, was an evening about 7 months earlier. We were in Tofino, our little family of four. The kids were tucked into bed and Ben and I were chatting over a couple of glasses of wine, or, more like Ben was chatting to himself. He was talking through the idea of having more kids – a subject he arrived at entirely on his own (no, seriously, I’m not kidding). After some time, he decided that, yes, he would like to have another child.

All the while, during this conversation with himself, I am thinking to myself, I should be getting my period soon…no, wait, I should have gotten it a solid week ago. I thought it was going to come, but nope, here I am a couple weeks later, still waiting.

So, of course the next day I rush out the pharmacy for a pregnancy test and low and behold, Ben got his wish.

I couldn’t imagine our family without Audrey. She is just what we needed, right when we needed it. Does anyone else feel like the first three years goes entirely too fast? Audrey, like all of our kids, has a personality of her own. She was so excited about her birthday, her friends and of course cake. She loves horses…like LOVES horses…which I love and she loves her bling. She’s my girly girl. She is smart beyond her years and, in a home where we all care and look out for each other, she does the same. Byron is her very best friend and she is a momma’s girl through and through. We had a great day celebrating Audrey today. Happy Birthday Baby Girl!
