    Hi, I’m Krista.

    Strategic communicator and storyteller.

I am the wife of a very talented musician who takes me around the world in pursuit of excellence. Mama to Jakob, Audrey and Ella, who just happens to have Down Syndrome.
And an aspiring disciple of Jesus, defender of the oppressed, writer, graphic designer and photographer.

I write and speak on navigating through the fog of life…you know, when things don’t go exactly as planned and am fuelled by a passion to amplify the voices of those on the margins…
    oh, and coffee…lots of coffee.

Edmonton House Tour

October 28, 2015

Well, it has been three months and four days since we moved our little family to Edmonton. Earlier in the Spring we had come to check out housing options and found this gem in the top rated neighbourhood of Old Strathcona. We call it our cabin – it is quaint and right near the Mill Creek Ravine. If you look out our front window, you might just think you were in the middle of the forest. It has all the space we need and no more and slowly becoming home. I could say much about it, but I will let the photos speak for themselves.

I LOVE home decor posts and photos. I am so glad a friend told me to check out your post on PFL because then I clicked on your home page- I like the new look. Its quite fresh and your about page also seems more comprehensive and updated (?) I think…I love it. Great idea…must have been a lot of work!
I know I have seen your photos before but I absolutely love the character of your home and the fact that it is surrounded by trees. A true comfort house.

Thanks Kmarie, yeah, I thought it was time for a little updating. And thank you for your input on the PFL post. A great conversation.

Well its a great update:) Thanks for listening to my differing approach regarding myself. I do understand the PFL stance as well and hope to honour that in future conversations:) Thanks for the opportunity to speak about it as I often do not get to have the chance off of autistic forums:)

The claw foot tub made me swoon. The entire house is so cozy! I noticed that Ella and Audrey share a room. Can you share on how that has gone?When/if we have a third, room-sharing will be our reality as well. And as much as I am a big advocate of siblings sharing a room, I am blissfully ignorant.

Hi Erika! Jakob and Ella shared a room in Cambridge as well as in Vancouver. In both scenarios we would put Ella to bed first. Usually, she would be asleep by the time it was Jakob’s bed time. I think it was good – they learned to share space and get a long in tight quarters. Although, I have heard many stories of siblings closer in age egging each other on at bedtime. 😉
