The First Day of School...finally (in pictures)

Hi, I’m Krista.

Strategic communicator and storyteller.

I am the wife of a very talented musician who takes me around the world in pursuit of excellence. Mama to Jakob, Audrey and Ella, who just happens to have Down Syndrome.
And an aspiring disciple of Jesus, defender of the oppressed, writer, graphic designer and photographer.

I write and speak on navigating through the fog of life…you know, when things don’t go exactly as planned and am fuelled by a passion to amplify the voices of those on the margins…
oh, and coffee…lots of coffee.

It finally came – the first day of school!

I was somewhat bitter about the whole teacher’s strike thing so refused to get my hopes up by taking back to school photos before I knew for sure that the kids would indeed be going back to school. But today…today! if only for an hour both kids were in school.

Can you believe how grown up this kid looks?! I’m so proud of Jakob. He is one of the most compassionate kind children I know and I am beyond thrilled that him and Ella will be in the same school.

And this girl. She did AMAZING! She hung up her back pack and made herself right at home. We met her teacher and one of her aides. In the short hour that we were in the classroom Ella managed to make some friends, play the teacher and generally charm everyone she met.

I am so looking forward to this year. Bring it on!
