    Hi, I’m Krista.

    Strategic communicator and storyteller.

I am the wife of a very talented musician who takes me around the world in pursuit of excellence. Mama to Jakob, Audrey and Ella, who just happens to have Down Syndrome.
And an aspiring disciple of Jesus, defender of the oppressed, writer, graphic designer and photographer.

I write and speak on navigating through the fog of life…you know, when things don’t go exactly as planned and am fuelled by a passion to amplify the voices of those on the margins…
    oh, and coffee…lots of coffee.

World Autism Day

April 2, 2012

Mothering a child with a disability: some choose it, most don’t.
Many say, “I’m not strong enough” and deliberately choose to terminate the life of a child with special needs.
But fortunately for others, no prenatal screening can detect Autism, there are no physical que at birth and it is only time that reveals the beauty of Autism.

10 years ago, few knew what Autism was and even less were diagnosed. Today, however, 1 in 54 boys and 1 in 252 girls is diagnosed with Autism. Still, very little is known what causes Autism and each day they are discovering more about this mystifying pattern of development.

I, myself know little about Autism, except that, like individuals with Down Syndrome, each is unique and created by God equipped with their own talents and abilities.

Happy World Autism Day!

The Down Syndrome-Autism Connection

Temple Grandin A great movie about Temple Grandin who is one of the top scientists in the Humane Livestock Handling Industry.

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close: I have never seen this film myself, but my sister-in-law strongly recommends it for understanding a bit about Aspergers Syndrome.
