    Hi, I’m Krista.

    Strategic communicator and storyteller.

I am the wife of a very talented musician who takes me around the world in pursuit of excellence. Mama to Jakob, Audrey and Ella, who just happens to have Down Syndrome.
And an aspiring disciple of Jesus, defender of the oppressed, writer, graphic designer and photographer.

I write and speak on navigating through the fog of life…you know, when things don’t go exactly as planned and am fuelled by a passion to amplify the voices of those on the margins…
    oh, and coffee…lots of coffee.

Because my children bring so much inspiration to my day

January 4, 2011

When you have a child with a disibility the victories are so much sweeter; you wait longer and work harder. And because I haven’t had enough sweets this holiday season, I thought I would share our most recent victories.

Ella will be 19 months on Saturday….
and although she doesn’t say much she signs. Victories won in the signing department:

food
drink
more
please
thank you
milk
bath
bye
fish
zoom zoom, if you can qualify that as a sign.

She has mastered throwing her food down on the ground if she doesn’t want it and can feed herself with a spoon (with a little help). She sucks out of a straw (old news-she’s done that since she was one).
She loves to walk with help and can make it up the stairs all-by-herself. And (drum roll please) can pull herself up to standing!(It’s been a long time coming). And one of her favorite things to do besides throwing things down the stairs is COLOUR.

And then there is my Jakob. He never fails to bring colour to my day… or my coffee table. His two passions are cars and painting and today, he got to combine the two thanks to Uncle Ryan.

A little bit of pint sized inspiration to brighten up your day.
