    Hi, I’m Krista.

    Strategic communicator and storyteller.

I am the wife of a very talented musician who takes me around the world in pursuit of excellence. Mama to Jakob, Audrey and Ella, who just happens to have Down Syndrome.
And an aspiring disciple of Jesus, defender of the oppressed, writer, graphic designer and photographer.

I write and speak on navigating through the fog of life…you know, when things don’t go exactly as planned and am fuelled by a passion to amplify the voices of those on the margins…
    oh, and coffee…lots of coffee.

Ella’s Extreme Team

June 8, 2015
“Will we run for Down Syndrome for Audrey soon?”

“No, Audrey doesn’t have Down Syndrome.”

“Did I have Down Syndrome when I was younger?”

“No, just Ella has Down Syndrome.”

I know we have explained it to him before…or at least we have tried but to him, she is just Ella.
Her challenges are no different than anyone else’s. Can you imagine if the rest of the society saw her just the way he does? Maybe…just maybe, today we came one step closer to that dream. Today, together with other families, friends and strangers we ran up for Down Syndrome to benefit the Down Syndrome Research Foundation. It was a beautiful day, in every way. Thank you to everyone who supported Ella’s Extreme Team!

And a special thank you to these two women – two of Ella’s greatest cheerleaders, team captains and all-stars. You have no idea how much of an impact you have had on our family nor the part you have played in helping Ella become the person that she is and will be. We are so so so grateful.

PS- if you still want to be a part of Ella’s team, the website is still open for donations. 😉
