    Hi, I’m Krista.

    Strategic communicator and storyteller.

I am the wife of a very talented musician who takes me around the world in pursuit of excellence. Mama to Jakob, Audrey and Ella, who just happens to have Down Syndrome.
And an aspiring disciple of Jesus, defender of the oppressed, writer, graphic designer and photographer.

I write and speak on navigating through the fog of life…you know, when things don’t go exactly as planned and am fuelled by a passion to amplify the voices of those on the margins…
    oh, and coffee…lots of coffee.

Cultivating Gratitude: Days 6-8

September 23, 2014
Life has been busy and there are a lot of things to be thankful for so here they are, mostly in pictures.
Day 6: I am grateful for family traditions. When I was a child my mom, brother and I would go down to Granville Island – sometimes just us, sometimes joined by others. I would order a Coffee Mocha Chocolate Chip Muffin, eat half of it and feed the rest to the birds…
Today, that tradition continues. There are few weeks that we don’t make it down to Granville Island as a family. Amy, who has been at the Muffin Granny for almost as long as I have been a customer, serves up a Coffee Mocha Chocolate Chip muffin for the kids and we spend time – sometimes on our own, sometimes with Grandma, sometimes with others. It is a highlight of the week…every week.

Ella took this shot…I love it.

Day 7: I am grateful for inclusion. I am grateful that we live in a society that is open to the idea of inclusion…(or afraid of being accused of exclusion) and allows Ella to take part in activities like soccer where she can belong, and get exercise and have fun.

Day 8: And I am grateful for Sunday Morning Pumpkin Pancakes and little girl that helps me make them.
