    Hi, I’m Krista.

    Strategic communicator and storyteller.

I am the wife of a very talented musician who takes me around the world in pursuit of excellence. Mama to Jakob, Audrey and Ella, who just happens to have Down Syndrome.
And an aspiring disciple of Jesus, defender of the oppressed, writer, graphic designer and photographer.

I write and speak on navigating through the fog of life…you know, when things don’t go exactly as planned and am fuelled by a passion to amplify the voices of those on the margins…
    oh, and coffee…lots of coffee.

Lullaby My Baby

September 2, 2014
There is nothing quite as sweet as watching a little one drift off to sleep. Exhausted from a day of play, peaceful, without resistance without fight. Why couldn’t every night be like this? I don’t like sleep to be an issue in our house because I remember what it was like to be a child. I remember lying in bed, tossing and turning, feeling lonely and sometimes afraid. I would often go to bed in my grandparents bed with the comfort of their smell. So for better or worse, when I know Ella has had a nap and won’t fall asleep until after 10pm or when Jakob just can’t calm himself down, I will often let them lay on the couch as I work and play them music. Here are my top Songs…that you perhaps wouldn’t think of as lullabies.

5. Baby Mine

4. Near Light by Ólafur Arnalds

3. Spiegel Im Spiegel by Arvo Part

2. Somewhere over the Rainbow by Eva Cassidy

and taking the #1 place, I will play this song on repeat (much to my husband’s chagrin) until those little eyelids become to heavy to keep open.

1. Seal Lullaby by Eric Whitacre
