    Hi, I’m Krista.

    Strategic communicator and storyteller.

I am the wife of a very talented musician who takes me around the world in pursuit of excellence. Mama to Jakob, Audrey and Ella, who just happens to have Down Syndrome.
And an aspiring disciple of Jesus, defender of the oppressed, writer, graphic designer and photographer.

I write and speak on navigating through the fog of life…you know, when things don’t go exactly as planned and am fuelled by a passion to amplify the voices of those on the margins…
    oh, and coffee…lots of coffee.

Guess what came today….

December 9, 2010

Today gave me whiplash from the complete spectrum of emotion that was experienced.

I left the house while it was still dark, my heart heavy as I learned of the news that dear Millie, whom we had all prayed so hard for, had gone to be with Jesus. This little life ended too soon. My heart ached as I thought of her parents, what they would tell their younger daughter when she is old enough to understand, how they would face Christmas with an empty stocking, gifts a daughter would never receive and grief beyond comprehension. The weight seemed to lighten though, somewhere between Linden and Didsbury and God gave me a peace. A peace knowing that although the pain must be more than I can ever imagine He is in control, He ministered through his sweet Angel, and will continue to work through her short life even after the fact.
I count my blessings and hold my Ella close thanking God for her breath.
My spirits were encouraged all the more when arrived at Ella’s school and guess what met us there- The T21 Traveling Afghan! You can find the link for it on the bottom right hand side of my blog. Our pint sized friend Macy gave it to us. This Afghan is very special as it has travelled across the continent being loved and cuddled by families who have been blessed by a child with Down Syndrome. It began in Appleton, Wisconsin in February of 2009 and has been travelling ever since. We feel so privileged to be a part of this International Hug. This is Day One- The Afghan at PREP

This is little Macy, and Big Ella playing hide-and-seek with little Ella

Stay tuned for 6 more days in this One Beautiful Life with the T21 Traveling Afghan….
