A Time for Everything

Just a few weeks ago we celebrated had celebrated her 90th birthday and yesterday I watched, as she breathed her last. And while the Lord was calling my husband's grandmother home after a long, full life, there is mourning that must take place: remembrance of the memories she created and articulation of the legacy that she leaves. Her spirit. Her humor. Her family.

Three words echoed in my head.

Stop.

Grieve.

Breathe.

I feel as though we have lost the art of grieving in western culture. What happened to taking time to mourn? Taking time to digest, process and express. We think of a full life as one that is jam-packed with success, accomplishments and honours but perhaps a full life is one where we simply take time-

Time to be born, and time to die
time to plant and time to pluck up what is planted;
time to kill and time to heal;
time to breakdown and time to build up'
time to weep and time to laugh
time to mourn and time to dance;
time to cast away stones, and time to gather stones together;
time to embrace and time to refrain from embracing;
time to seek and time to lose;
time to keep and time to cast away;
time to tear and time to sew;
time to keep silence and time to speak;
time to love and time to hate;
time for war and time for peace.

Time for Peace - you will be missed Grandma Marion but your legacy lives on.

I am so sorry to hear of Grandma Marion's passing. She is flashing that infectious grin somewhere else now....with her dear husband...waltzing to some of her favorite music, and finally at rest and peace. Sympathies to you and Ben.
